Georgian Paste Buckles

Georgian Paste Buckles

Here is a pair of two super rare and beautiful Georgian shoe or breech buckles.  It was extremely common in the 1700s-1800s for men to wear decorative shoe buckles, breech buckles and jewelry.  These buckles feature wonderful, hand faceted and shaped paste stones set in silver.  This beautiful and rare black dot paste is foiled and an absolute treasure. The stones are closed backed with tight fitting crimped collet settings.  Its amazing that these buckles have survived so long and its awesome to think about how many places they've been!  These could be added to your antique jewelry collection or worn.  A fun way to wear an antique buckle is to wear it on a ribbon around your neck as a choker.  This is a fantastic pair of historical buckles.

You can see similar examples in the book "Georgian Jewellery 1714-1830"

The Condition Report

An item must be 100 years old or older to be considered antique. This means many antiques may have age-related wear. We chalk it up to character and love it, but it is essential that we fully describe any wear, no matter how minor. Each piece is carefully inspected, tested, and fully described before it lands in the shop.
