Large Antique Mano Figa Pendant
Here is a lovely and highly collectible Figa pendant. This Mano Figa pendant is the biggest I've ever had. It's about 3 inches tall, a rare find! It is carved from a beautiful root beer-colored stone. The stone is interesting and multicolored in several shades of undulating browns. The naturally occurring striations and crystallization in the stone are visible in the carving, adding interest to the piece. The wrist has a small gold-tone bracelet. The cap is gold-tone metal with decorative wire work and a bale, ready to add to a chain of your choice.
The Mano Figa, or "fig hand," is an Italian amulet that dates back to ancient Rome and is thought to bring good luck and ward off evil. However, this motif has also been a symbol of protection in other cultures. The Mano Figa amulet is also connected to stories of good luck, fertility, and sexuality.
