Here is a fantastic antique early Victorian brooch featuring a lovely spotted agate. The captivating poppy agate specimen is set in an open-back, gold-crimped collet setting. The clasp is a tube and C clasp, consistent with the period, and functions beautifully. The stone is transparent, milky, cool-grey with speckled dendritic inclusions and lovely bright reddish-orange speckles. It's a beautiful specimen. The agate has a fracture running through the stone but is secure in the setting. This beautiful antique agate brooch is ready to wear and would make an excellent addition to any antique jewelry collection.

The Condition Report

An item must be 100 years old or older to be considered antique. This means many antiques may have age-related wear. We chalk it up to character and love it, but it is essential that we fully describe any wear, no matter how minor. Each piece is carefully inspected, tested, and fully described before it lands in the shop.
